I offer both talk therapy, and EMDR therapy. I often find a combination o the two is best for helping people heal. I am certified in EMDR and like to use it for a varity of clients.
I also offer walk and talk therapy for clients who are not using insurance. Walk and talk therapy has been beneficial for folks who may have a hard time sitting across a therapist, and can help us ease into hard topics.

I am a licensed independant social worker with a supervisory designation in the states of Ohio.
I have a bachelors of psychology and sociology at Eastern University in PA and got my Masters of Social Work from Boston College in Massachusetts.
While the internet is vast and useful, credentials are important. I also love learning and am always looking for a new book, training or podcast to hone my approach with clients.
In addition to my formal education I have also completed EMDR certification with the International Association of Eye movement desesitization and reprocessing (EMDRIA).

I’m glad you asked! Starting therapy can be intimidating and a bit like dating! I always encourage clients to give it a few sessions. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and vis-versa.
I am from New England and have lived in the midwest going on 13 years. You’ll find my approach both warm and direct.
I’m happy to provide structure where needed and ask probing questions that are deeper than the “how does that make you feel”. I will most likely ask you to pay attention to your body and we discuss different things, and love to suggest more reading and podcasts!
At the end of the day its your session, so I encourage you to be as direct as possible, and to be honest about what YOU want out of our time together.
Therapy is a time for you to be heard, but also challenged to think about your own patterns, processes, and beliefs.

I take one insurance, UHC. Mostly to save myself from the headache of having to deal with multiple contracts and billing issues.
Otherwise I do private pay. I am able to accept payment via HSA and can provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement. I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots in my case load and currently do not have availability to accommodate clients seeking services at a reduced rate at this time.

Glad you asked! Therapists are not blank slates as once believed. I’m so glad therapy is on a more “we’re humans too” tradjectory.
I chose this work because I came from a broken family system. I know firsthand what its like to deal with family members with mental illness, navigate parental divorce, and heal some attachment wounds I’m still working through.
I have two boys who I am trying my best not to pass down my family trauma too. I deal wtih anxiety and perfectionism, overcommittment to volunteerings, and navigating hashimotos autoimmune thyroid condition. I am a work in progess, and bring lessons learned, and my humanity into the therapy room. I can be both serious and playful, and I believe this works well in the therapy space. I believe the best therapy work is done when showing up authentically, and together we will push back against lonliness, doubt, confusion.
